Fairly common and widespread across much of the Waterberg and the surrounding thorn savanna (52% in, 48% out; recorded in 57% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents areas of rank grass and forbs mostly along drainage lines and especially in seasonally flooded areas; gregarious, in flocks year-round. Breeds in summer.
