A summer visitor, present between Dec and Apr. Rare, given that the extent of its preferred floodplain habitat (temporarily flooded grassland with trees standing in shallow water) is limited in the Waterberg. Not yet known to breed in the Waterberg but in years of high rainfall it breeds commonly along the Nyl floodplain.
