Protea welwitschii
Kaingo Private Game Reserve, Jan 2022

Common and widespread across the higher-lying parts of the Waterberg, in places growing in otherwise open grassland. Similar to Protea gaguedi. The two are distinguished by this species having brown, not silvery-grey hair on young stems, by its flowers being mostly in clusters (2-5/stem), by its old flowerheads opening out flat (not cupped), and by its leaves typically being shorter and broader.
