A breeding resident. The most frequently recorded canary in the Waterberg, it is common and widespread here, less frequent in the surrounding thorn savanna (58% in, 42% out; recorded in 94% of the Waterberg pentads); found in all types of woodland, in pairs or small flocks year-round. Breeds in summer.
