Verloren, Bela Bela, Jan 2019
male
An erratic but sometimes abundant visitor in the Waterberg. In the surrounding thorn savanna, especially in the agricultural areas of the Springbok Flats, it is resident and breeding colonies here numbering millions of birds are a frequent occurrence (48% in, 52% out; recorded in 74% of the Waterberg pentads); favours open country but flocks may descend on areas wherever favoured grasses are in seed. Breeds in summer.
