A breeding resident. The most widely and frequently recorded weaver, both in the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (49% in, 51% out; recorded in 89% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents both open treeless landscapes in agricultural areas, open woodland, and rural and suburban gardens; occurs singly or in small groups. Breeds colonially in summer, usually in single-male colonies with fewer than 10 nests.
