Probably a breeding resident. An arid-country species, it occurs locally in the surrounding thorn savanna, ranging in places into the fringes of the Waterberg; nowhere common (28% in, 74% out; recorded in 14% of the Waterberg pentads); occurs singly, in pairs, or in small groups.
