A breeding resident. First recorded in Modimolle in 1978, this invasive alien has since expanded its range across the Waterberg and is now common in all the towns and on all the larger farming operations in the district; it is only in the more remote hilly, rocky areas of the Waterberg where human activity is absent or minimal that it is absent (recorded in 58% of the Waterberg pentads); everywhere associated with human activity; in pairs while nesting, otherwise gregarious, sometimes gathering in large flocks to roost at night. Breeds in summer.
