A breeding resident. Scarce. Sparsely but widely distributed across the Waterberg, much less common in the surrounding thorn savanna (67% in, 33% out; recorded in 27% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents broad-leafed woodland where the grass layer is shortly cropped; found singly or in pairs. Breeds in summer.
