A breeding resident. Common and widespread, both across the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (54% in, 46% out; recorded in 91% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents any woodland where the under-storey comprises rank grass or shrubs; occurs singly or in pairs. Breeds in summer.
