Phyllastrephus terrestris Terrestrial Brownbul Boskrapper
Driefontein, Dec 2018
A breeding resident. Uncommon; occurs widely but very sparsely across the Waterberg, and even less frequently in the surrounding thorn savanna (79% in, 21% out; recorded in 16% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents wooded thickets, typically along rivers or at the base of rocky ridges; found singly, in pairs or in small family groups; an elusive, skulking bird, mostly detected from hearing its raspy call in the undergrowth. Breeds in summer.
