A breeding resident. Very common; one of the most widely and frequently recorded birds, both in the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (recorded in 99% of the Waterberg pentads); frequents any woodland, found singly, in pairs or in loosely associated groups; as an abundant, fruit-eating bird it is probably responsible for much of the spread of Lantana camara in the region. Breeds in summer; parasitised by Jacobin Cuckoo.
