A breeding resident. Common and widespread across the Waterberg (recorded in 71% of the Waterberg pentads); gregarious, in flocks of dozens to a hundred or more birds which range widely during the day from their breeding and roosting sites to which they return nightly. Breeds colonially, in places using high cliffs, but usually nesting on the sides or roof of a large building (e.g. grain silo), and under larger road bridges. Breeds in summer.
