Apus horus Horus Swift Horuswindswael
Modimolle, Feb 2017
A breeding summer visitor, present between Oct and May. Very sparsely recorded (in 10% of the Waterberg pentads) but probably often overlooked, given its similarity to Little Swift; unlike that species it nests in tunnels in earth banks and its presence at such sites gives proof to its identity. Gregarious, often mingling with other swift species in the air. Breeds in late summer.
