A breeding resident. Common and widespread across the Waterberg, less so in the surrounding thorn savannas (59% in, 41% out; recorded in 93% of the Waterberg pentads); equally common in natural and man-modified habitats but favours places where there are large trees; mostly detected by hearing its characteristic “you chew tobacco too” call. Breeds year-round.
