A resident. Rare. Occurs widely but sparsely, mainly in the north-east (recorded in 12% of the Waterberg pentads); it is commoner and more widespread in the thorn savannas to the west of the Waterberg; probably breeds in the Waterberg but to date there is no evidence of this.
