Common and widespread, both across the Waterberg and in the surrounding thorn savanna (51% in, 49% out; recorded in 76% of the Waterberg pentads); favours open, treeless country, especially areas under agriculture; occurs singly or in loosely associated small groups. Breeds in late summer.
