A non-breeding visitor from the Palearctic, present mainly between Oct and Mar with occasional individuals remaining year-round. Uncommon (recorded in 15% of the Waterberg pentads), mostly in agricultural areas, or in secondary grasslands and typically present after heavy downpours of rain. Found as single birds, in groups or in flocks; once 141 together (migrating?) at Bokpoort (Mar 2018).
